ION STRUCTURE

ION STRUCTURE
 An atom can lose / release electrons or get / receive additional electrons.
 Atom a loss / release electrons, will be a positive ion (cation).
 get the Atom / receive electrons, will be a negative ion (anion).
 In the Ion, which changed only the number of electrons only, while the number of proton and neutron remain.

Spesi Proton Electron Neutron
Atom Na 11 11 12
Ion 11 10 12
Ion 11 12 12

General formula for calculating the number of proton, neutrons and electrons:
1). To nuklida neutral atom:
: P = Z
e = Z
n = (A-Z)

2). To nuklida cation:
: P = Z
e = Z - (+ y)
n = (A-Z)

3). To nuklida anion:
: P = Z
e = Z - (-y)
n = (A-Z)
